Hello there today I want to share you about How to install Wine on Ubuntu. Before we get on depth explanation installing Wine, First thing we must get more attention about what is Wine software?. Of course not many people know about Wine. Wine is software that have function to play windows application on Linux (include Ubuntu). Wine is powerful software that can bring almost windows application run smoothly. Before Wine created, it is so Hard to run with extension (.exe file) or windows application run on Linux. Because Windows and Linux is different Operating system. As time passed, then Linux developer try to develop program that could run windows application on Different operating system.


Before we installing wine make sure that you have no previously wine installed on your computer. If you have previously wine installed on PC, Try removed it. This action must execute to prevent error on installation process. Then another thing to do, if your Personal Compute using 64 bit system, Tried changed to 32 bit system. by typing on the terminal (just like DOS system, with black screen) :
 sudo dpkg –add-architecture i386 

then next step, You must download and add the repository key on terminal by typing:
sudo apt-key add winehq.key
Then Add the repository:
Next is update packages by typing:
sudo apt-get update

Then choose installation that you want based on table below


If you want to installed Wine without internet, make sure that you have been download from internet the wine .deb package and its dependencies. 
The steps goes like this: On the machine with internet, add the WineHQ PPA, then cache just the necessary packages without actually extracting them by typing:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wine/wine-builds
sudo apt-get update
And then cache of the packages necessary for installing wine, without extracting them by typing on the terminal:
sudo apt-get clean
Next step just type:
sudo apt-get –download-only install winehq-devel
sudo apt-get –download-only dist-upgrade
Make sure you have flash disk to put those on it. Just type:
cp -R /var/cache/apt/archives/ /media/usb-drive/deb-pkgs/
And for the last step is to installed without internet, just install all of the packages from the USB flash drive. By typing:
cd /media/usb-drive/deb-pkgs
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

The same way can also be used for an offline installation of the `winehq-staging` packages.
